On March 16, 2026, a delegation from the Paul Tsai China Center at Yale Law School, led by Senior Fellow Karman Lucero, visited the Institute for AI International Governance (I-AIIG) at Tsinghua University. The meeting was attended by Liang Zheng, Vice Dean of I-AIIG; Chen Tianhao, Associate Professor at the School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University; Tang Xinhua, Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of International Relations, Tsinghua University; and other members of I-AIIG’s research team.

Liang Zheng welcomed the Yale delegation and provided an overview of the I-AIIG’s research priorities and ongoing projects.
During the meeting, both sides held in-depth discussions on cross-cultural exchange and academic collaboration concerning international AI governance. Participants exchanged views on promoting academic dialogue and mutual understanding across countries from both social science and interdisciplinary perspectives, as well as the importance of strengthening cooperation and communication in the science and technology fields.

Against the backdrop of rapid advances in AI, the participants also discussed topics and emerging trends in global AI governance. The conversation covered international dialogue mechanisms, the role of academia in policy exchange, and the importance of multi-stakeholder participation. The participants shared their perspectives on practical challenges in promoting international scientific and technological exchanges. Additional discussions addressed the interaction between AI industry development and policy research, pathways for enhancing professional exchange and knowledge collaboration, and the need for sustained, open academic dialogue in fostering mutual understanding and improving the effectiveness of international engagement.
