On March 18, 2026, Igor Marchesini Ferreira, Special Advisor to the Brazilian Ministry of Finance, led a delegation to visit the Institute for AI International Governance (I-AIIG) at Tsinghua University. Liang Zheng, Vice Dean of I-AIIG, and members of the research team were in attendance at the meeting.

Professor Liang welcomed the Brazilian delegation and outlined AIIG’s recent developments, research priorities, and ongoing international cooperation initiatives in AI governance.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the use of AI in the public sector and shared perspectives on policy approaches to promoting responsible and inclusive AI development. The discussions also addressed the role of AI in supporting economic transformation and public services, and in fostering talent development in the digital era.
“AI is not only a technological advancement but also a key driver of social development and public governance innovation,” said Professor Liang. “Strengthening international dialogue and sharing practical experiences are essential for enabling countries at various stages of development to all benefit from AI.”
The delegation shared Brazil’s ongoing efforts to shape its national AI-related policies and expressed interest in learning from China’s experience in applying AI to public governance and economic development. Both sides agreed that continued academic exchange and cooperation would lead to mutual understanding and future collaboration.
