With continuous development of China’s economy and technology, many Chinese internet giants have set up institutions for research on macro policies and markets in recent years. These institutions, with the focuses on corporate strategies and business development, have established open and innovative knowledge-based IUR (Industry-University-Research) platforms for research on corporate technology strategies and industrial policies, thus forming “think tanks” with capacity to make strategies for their own enterprises. This can support the formulation of corporate technology strategies and assist in promotion of sound development of related industries.
In order to understand China’s policies, market and hi-tech trend, multinational corporations hope to know and learn related ideas and practices, discuss the positions and roles the corporate research institutions should have except for facilitating technology innovation in the narrow sense, lead the formulation of technology strategies of their enterprises in China, and make suggestions on utilization of opportunities for business development and strategic direction.
