On August 11, 2026, Kim Jin-dong, Minister for Economic Affairs at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in China, and Sangyeol Shin, Minister-Counselor for Science and Technology, together with First Secretary Inah Baek, visited the Institute for AI International Governance (I-AIIG) at Tsinghua University. Xue Lan, Dean of I-AIIG; Vice Deans Liang Zheng and Xiao Qian; International Cooperation Manager Liu Chang; and International Cooperation Officer Alice Chen Fan attended the meeting.

Xue welcomed the Korean delegation and delivered an overview of I-AIIG and its progress in AI international governance.
The two sides exchanged views on AI and data governance, policy development, technological approaches, industry impacts, and international cooperation. I-AIIG also shared insights into the evolution of China’s AI governance framework and its approach to AI applications, workforce transition, and data governance. The Korean side highlighted the role of AI in manufacturing transformation and the challenges of data sharing.
