On April 10, 2025, Mr. Mohammad Javad Abdekhodaei, Advisor to the President of Sharif University of Technology, led a delegation of distinguished Iranian university representatives on an official visit to the Institute for AI International Governance (I-AIIG) at Tsinghua University. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Vice Dean Liang Zheng and I-AIIG researchers.
“It’s a genuine pleasure to welcome our Iranian colleagues to Tsinghua,” said Liang Zheng in his opening remarks. “I-AIIG remains firmly committed to advancing the healthy development of AI, strengthening international collaboration, and contributing intellectual support to global AI governance. We look forward to exchanging ideas and exploring future cooperation.” Following mutual introductions, Liang provided an overview of I-AIIG, highlighting its research achievements and international partnerships in the field of AI governance.
The Iranian delegation expressed their gratitude for the warm hospitality and shared updates on the current development of AI research and education in Iranian academic institutions. “AI is a key driver for sustainable development worldwide,” noted Mr. Abdekhodaei. “In this context, international collaboration is vital. Iran has achieved remarkable progress in both theoretical AI research foundations and practical applications. We are eager to strengthen our cooperation with I-AIIG in joint research, academic exchange, and talent development efforts.”
