Su Jun is a distinguished professor of the Ministry of Education. He currently serves in Tsinghua University as the Director of Center for Science Technology & Education Policy and Director of Think Tank Research Center (in preparation) as well as Deputy Director of China Institute for Science and Technology Policy. He is also an expert enjoying the State Council Special Allowance, Deputy Director of Steering Committee for Public Management Disciplines under Ministry of Education and member of the Management Department of Science & Technology Commission of Ministry of Education. He has been shortlisted into the “National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project” and awarded the title of Young and Middle-aged Expert.
Professor Su once conducted research on the public policy under the guidance of Professor Lewis M. Branscomb (an internationally renowned expert in public policy) as a visiting scholar at Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, Harvard Kennedy School. He is now a part-time researcher at the forementioned school and the Fletcher School, Tufts University (US). He has been the Chinese President of the series of meetings concerning “Harvard-Tsinghua Workshop onLow-Carbon Development and Public Policy”.
Professor Su has been engaged in the teaching and research of innovation theory and public policy for a long time, and teaches postgraduate courses including “An Analysis of Public Policy”, “Design and Review of Public Policy” and “Innovation Theories and Science and Technology Policy”. He has been responsible for major research projects and those involving international cooperation commissioned by the National Natural Science Foundation, and published many academic papers in international academic journals such as Nature. His own bookPublic Policy for Science and Technology: An Introductionhas been adopted by many colleges and universities as the teaching material for postgraduates. He also co-authored Innovation and Collaboration for a Harmonious World,Investing in the Future of a Country-Theoretical and Empirical Studies on University Basic Research,A Study of Knowledge-Based Innovation and Technology Spin-offs in Chinese UniversitiesandA Research Report on the Strategy of Chinese Universities in International Science and Technology Cooperation and Exchanges, and compiled the reference bookCatalogue Guide to the Science and Technology Policy of China (1949-2010).
Professor Suwon the Second Prize of Excellent Achievements in Scientific Research (Humanities and Social Science) of Colleges and Universities twice (respectively in 2009 and 2015), the Third Prize of the Third National Awards for the Education Research Achievements (2006), the First Prize of Excellent Teaching Achievements of Tsinghua University (2006), the Award for Major Contribution to the Strategic Research on the National Medium and Long-term Science and Technology Development Outline (2006—2020) (2004) and the First Prize of Friends of Tsinghua—Scholarship for Excellent Young Teachers (1998). He was shortlisted into the Project of Training A Hundred Talent of Social Science Theory in the New Century of Beijing (2001) and won the title of Advanced Worker of Tsinghua University(2012)as well as the Excellent Party Member of Tsinghua University.
