On the afternoon of October 16, 2025, a delegation from the United Nations University (UNU) visited the Institute for AI International Governance (I-AIIG) at Tsinghua University. The delegation was led by Professor Shen Xiaomeng, UNU Vice-Rector in Europe (UNU-VIE), and Professor Shinobu Yume Yamaguchi, Director of the UNU Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS). The meeting was chaired by Professor Liang Zheng, Vice Dean of I-AIIG, and attended by members of I-AIIG’s research team.
In his welcoming remarks, Professor Liang expressed his appreciation for the visit and introduced I-AIIG’s work in AI governance, international cooperation, and interdisciplinary research. “AI is profoundly shaping the global governance landscape,” he said. “We look forward to working closely with UNU and its institutes to ensure that AI becomes a positive force for education, sustainable development, and social governance.”
Professors Shen and Yamaguchi thanked I-AIIG for the warm reception and shared information on UNU’s recent initiatives in climate change, higher education, and capacity building. “Sustainability and AI governance are deeply interconnected,” they emphasized. “Collaborative research between UNU and Tsinghua can make meaningful contributions to both global policy and academic advancement.”
