On August 12, 2025, Dr. Lee Shiang Long, Group Chief Technology and Digital Officer at ST Engineering, along with Deputy Head Wang Kai, visited the Institute for AI International Governance of Tsinghua University (I-AIIG) in Beijing. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Vice Dean Liang Zheng and I-AIIG researchers.
Dr. Lee commented on ST Engineering’s commitment to AI governance, noting: “We hope our hands-on experience in smart city, UAV, and intelligent transport solutions can contribute meaningfully to global frameworks.”
Key discussion topics included regulatory compliance, legal alignment across jurisdictions, and security challenges in emerging AI applications. Dr. Lee highlighted the value of strategic partnerships: “Collaborations with institutions like National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU)—and now Tsinghua—can significantly enhance both academic insights and practical outcomes.”
Liang echoed this sentiment: “We believe by working together—co-authoring papers, building joint reports, and setting unified governance standards—we can pave the way towards AI that is ethical, innovative, and sustainable.”
